The Quantum Infrastructure Council (QIC) is an independent, industry-led initiative focused on the practical realities of quantum computing and its future impact on digital infrastructure.

QIC brings together a cross-section of the emerging quantum ecosystem alongside established stakeholders from data centres, cloud, energy, engineering, finance, and the wider supply chain. The aim is not to promote quantum as an immediate replacement for classical computing, but to create a clear, grounded understanding of what is real today, what remains experimental, and how the technology is likely to evolve over the coming decade.

A core focus of QIC is separating genuine progress from hype. Through research, industry dialogue, and curated events, the Council shares an evidence-based view of the current state of quantum hardware, software, and deployment models, with particular attention to infrastructure requirements, commercial viability, and integration with existing digital platforms.

Looking ahead, QIC explores the likely 3–10 year trajectory of quantum computing from an infrastructure and investment perspective. This includes power, cooling, physical environments, supply chains, standards, skills, and the commercial models that will underpin early adoption. By doing so, the Council helps operators, investors, developers, and policymakers anticipate change rather than react to it.

Subtly but importantly, QIC is about helping participants get ahead of the curve – without over-claiming how fast quantum will arrive or overstating near-term impact. The emphasis is on informed preparedness, early alignment, and practical collaboration between those shaping standards, building capability, and identifying future opportunities across the digital infrastructure ecosystem.
