DAMAC Data Centers
Milan is responsible for the African data centre business of EDGNEX, a subsidiary of the DAMAC Group, one of the largest real estate developers in the UAE. EDGNEX is in expansion mode, seeking to deploy large-scale data centres across key locations in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Milan’s involvement with the data centre industry commenced in 1999 during his time as head of internet infrastructure equity research at UBS Warburg, the global investment bank. During the subsequent 18 years at UBS and other banks, Milan was involved in many of the major transactions involving data centre companies, including the acquisition and delisting of Telecity by 3i and the IPO of Interxion on the NYSE. Between 2017 and 2022, Milan worked with Interxion Digital Realty, reporting to the CEO of Interxion, David Ruberg, on a range of strategic and corporate development initiatives. A particular area of focus was the African business, where Milan led the process to identify acquisition targets in West Africa, culminating in the acquisition by Digital Realty of Medallion Communications. He also worked closely with the CEO and founder of iColo in East Africa from a seed funding stage, including leading the effort for Interxion to take a majority shareholding in the company and to bring in Pembani Remgro Infrastructure Managers as a minority investor.
